[mso] Re: help opening files

Did you try looking under the "Open" dialog? In Word 2003, there are a  
number of options to pick under "Files of type" (including, by the way, Word  
2007 
formats) and I imagine 2007 has something similar.
 
I am assuming you are using Word, but the other Office products have  similar 
options.

Were the files  created with Office 2007? If not (and I don't have 2007 to  
check)  there is probably an option to open the files in an older format.
