I used FP back in 2000 for a corporation's Intranet site and have to confess
that I haven't done much with it since.
I basically do small business sites. When I checked for one client, I had
been told that the package was backward compatible, but my client wouldn't
be able to go back to his version if I used my new copy of FP. I develop in
notepad as my editor and upload through the package. The versioning issue
has kept me away from the package where possible.
Recently, I was told that someone was using Notepad and FTPing to the FP
site, thus not running into the version issue. Is that possible? I thought
that with the quirks to FP, it wasn't possible.
Back in the olden days, when I used FP regularly, we couldn't use php. Now
that is possible! Has Microsoft adapted to allow development outside the
program? I keep the current program, but I don't want to deal with the
version issues for those people who want to publish updates to a server
without dealing with the cost of the new package. It would be great to be as
versatile as possible!
Karen
