Hi SandyLea...I'm not sure what you are "overlooking", but I just entered the dates exactly how you list them below and sorted them in ascending order and this is what I got... 1/5/03 1/1/04 1/3/04 1/1/05 Which appears to be exactly what you want...year first, month next, then day This is not what happens when you sort dates? Are they formatted as dates? What version of Excel are you using? Linda F.
