Robert--
The "care of" symbol of which you speak is a Unicode-only character, meaning
that whether it shows up or not is going to depend on whether the font set
you are using is A) Unicode and B) contains that symbol. Further, C) if the
mapping is non-standard--as some Unicode fonts are--the "care of" symbol
won't appear; instead, you'll likely get something else entirely. For these
reasons, using the "c/o" symbol in a shared document may give inconsistent
results.
However, if you wish to add the symbol to printed material, you can simply
find, select, and copy the symbol from Windows' Character Map utility (Start
> Programs > Accessories > System Tools), then paste it into your document
before printing.

Subject: [mso] "c/o" symbol
I don't see a symbol for "c/o" in the symbols list. My college Word
book says to make that symbol, I should press
2105, highlight "2105" and press Alt-x. It says the "c/o" symbol will
then take the place of "2105." It does not, at least, not for me. I
am using Word 2000.
I can make the "c/o" symbol by using c/o, but I would prefer a more
proper-looking one. Can anyone tell me how to make that symbol please?
Thank you.
Robert
