[mso] XP lockup

Our department head installed office XP on his Dell Win2k machine and
now it locks up when he uses word or powerpoint.
When he tries to call a document from within word it takes a while for
the drive tree menu to drop. Sometimes it shows up after a full minute
sometimes it just locks up and task manager shows that it is not
responding. This problem also transfers to other programs like Eudora,
Explorer, etc., but only after word has been loaded. He updated Win2k
and it worked okay for a while then started up again. We are trying
service pack 1 today.
I have not heard any complaints from any one else who is using XP and
the department head claims it does not happen on his Dell laptop with
WinXP.
I am curious if anyone has seen this anywhere else or heard of a fix.
Thank you.
