Hi Leah,
You could try the following:
1. Create a new blank Word document
2. Click on Insert - File... and select the password word protected
document. This should bring its data into the new document.
3. The new document containing the data should be unprotected and you
should be able to make changes, find, replace, etc. 
4. Save the new document.
