[mso] Word and Adobe Acrobat

Is anyone using Word with Adobe Acrobat  doing rather large files?
I have this book done in a master sheet, and indexed, I can not get to it
run through in Adobe!  At the last step Word hangs.  And this is after many
three or four hours of working in 1.8 g computer with 512 memory  ?   I also
am looseing format in smaller files   would like to chast maybe off the list
with any with experence on this.
