You FIRST need to go to File/Page Setup and set the page to DIFFERENT first
page. It's usually on the layout tab, depending on your version.

Same place you set the odd/even page settings.

Subject: [mso] Word - Different Footers in Diff Sections

Ok. I'm pulling my hair out here; and I ain't got that much to spare!
:)

I have a doc with 2 sections. The first section is a single page Table of
Contents. The second section is the balance of the document. I need
Odd/Even footers in the second section, but not in the first. I can't get
Word XP to let me set Odd/Even for the second section but not for the first.

I've tried creating the footer a few different ways. Every method ends up
giving me Odd/Even for both sections. This is a problem since section one
is adding a blank page (I assume since the actual Table of Contents is on
the odd page, Word adds a blank page so it can assign it the even footer).
When we print it (two sided), the blank page is added right after the Table
of Contents and throws off the rest of the doc.

Help!
