Thanks for the explanation - I was curious as to how it got unchecked in
the Options, after Robin Fronk's helpful suggestion on where to go to
get it to show up again. I must have clicked in that area and not known
it, and since I didn't know that feature even existed, I had no idea
what I had done. Seems like stuff like that happens a lot in Office! ;)

Yup...it makes sense. You clicked the new 2003 "hide white space" area.
Just move your mouse up to the top, or anywhere between the pages, and
your
cursor will turn into an up/down arrow like a spin control. Just click
and
your headers/footers and extra top/bottom margins will return to view.
This was a new feature that was added, albeit not documented well...so
something people click in that area and don't know what happened.
Personally, I love it when proofing long docs cos' it cuts off the
excess
area you don't need to proof so you have much less scrolling. But it CAN
be
quite confusing if you don't know it's there.=20

Suddenly last week, the top margin on a new blank document, when viewed
in print layout view, disappeared. So instead of seeing the entire
"page" including the top, like I used to, I have the cursor blinking at
the very top, and the top of the page appears cut off. If I click on
View Header, I can see that area, but I used to be able to see it
without having to view the header. Is there a way I can set it back to
how it was?
