Hi Dian,
<<Create a character style and add it to your template. >>
Ok, I've figured out how to do that, and I added it to Normal.dot.
I read the TechTrax article, "Return of Speed Styling", and I did create the
new toolbar. But now, I'm on thin ice. When I click the Styles icon, I find
that I have over 30 user-defined styles. I never intended to define ANY
styles. They must have sprung up like weeds over the past 18 months since I've
been producing the club's newsletter. What happens if I start deleting
user-defined styles? All the documents based on Normal.dot going back 8 or 9
years including all my most complex documents (the club newsletters) will turn
to dust! That's well over a thousand documents.
At least for now (before I delete any user-defined styles), the one I
CONSIOUSLY produced does allow me to apply my custom color to selected text.
Somewhere along my venture into this new ground, I did see what looked like a
way to apply a keyboard shortcut to my new custom color style. That brings up
two questions: How do I know I'm not conflicting or re-defining an existing
keyboard shortcut? Where can I find all the currently assigned keyboard
shortcuts? Is there a relatively "safe" key combo that can be paired with
other letters or numbers for user-defined keyboard shortcuts? In this
instance, "safe" means not already in use.
Thanks for all the help.
Ray Shapp
