We use HP printers exclusively here in our office and see this issue =
occasionally. The printer has tray settings for size and paper type - for =
example, ours are:
Tray 1 - Letterhead/Letter
Tray 2 - Bond/Letter
Tray 3 - Draft/Letter
If someone prints on legal paper from one of those trays, it changes the =
tray setting to Legal from letter. Or, occasionally, someone will just =
start pushing buttons to get their print job to come out and end up =
changing the paper type, so both Trays 1 and 2 are set to letterhead. =
When that happens, the printer thinks it can print your letterhead from =
either tray and it will be fine, since it's set to letterhead.
I recommend checking your tray settings through the printer itself. What =
model is it?

Having problems with my Word/HP Officejet combo. The printer has a 2nd
paper tray which we used for letterheads and also a duplex unit.
All was fine until the printer was replaced under warranty, which
coincided with it being linked to the other PC on our little network
rather than my PC. Now, all my templates which were carefully set up so
that business letters print the first page on to letterhead and the
subsequent sheets on to plain paper aren't behaving properly. What I get
is all the pages of the first copy goes on to plain paper and sometimes
the first page of a second copy goes to the headed paper and the rest to
plain paper. Other times I try to force a first page to a specific paper
tray and it ignores it totally.
This is proving very frustrating as I have to cross the office to the
printer to keep adding letterhead to the right paper tray, then it will
decide all of a sudden to play the game so I get pages 1 and 2 printed on
letterhead!
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer and have updated
the drivers but no success. Any other suggestions would be extremely
valuable!
Anne
