In Word 2003 you can go to Tools -> AutoCorrect Options -> AutoCorrect tab ->
deselect Capitalize first letters of sentences. You then have to be mindful of
your own capitalization when creating new sentences mid-line. Perhaps not the
complete answer you were looking for but possibly a workaround.
