Well, yes...if you want to send a huge file, you can do the same thing with
Word and just embed the fonts
Since I absolutely HATE pdfs, I would do that before I'd use pdfs, but
that's just my opinion (and not shared by all)

Why not save the file as a pdf?
Unless your fonts are copyrighted, they will be preserved in the process.
Plenty of free pdf writers out there:
