If the figure numbers were typed in manually (dead text)...
Determine the construction of the caption number you'd like by creating =
one and turning on the field codes to see what's there.
Record a macro to find the next Caption style and replace the dead text =
with your desired field or fields.
If the figure numbers use some other type of field (hope for SEQ fields) =
then make sure they are consistently applied and update them as you'd =
update any other field (F9).
