[mso] Text Background Color in Word2002

Hello All,

I would like to include specific background color for selected areas of text
in a Word 2002 document.  My first attempt at this is to highlight the text,
but the selection of available highlight colors is quite limited.  I looked at
themes for this, but that appears too cumbersome and inflexible.  Is there
anything in Word that is comparable to the formatting options for cells in
Excel?
