Hi Andrew,

This was a crazy one.  Microsoft has not included this in its standard list
of updates (critical or otherwise).  If it wasn't for the collective minds
of this group, I would still be searching for a solution.  It is amazing how
such a problem can upset one's life balance!  I am happy to have be back up
and running.

I am so glad you found a solution.  What a weird one, eh? And why does it
affect Office and nothing else?

Not many would have the temerity to follow those instructions yet it would
be relatively easy to create a fix file that does all that automatically!
