Thanks Linda.  I also found that I needed to go to Tools, Options and turn
off the background error checking.  That got rid of a lot of them.  Those
green triangles and popup things drive me batty in Excel.

I can't remember if it's the same in 2002, but in 2003 it's in
Tools>Options>Edit tab...remove the checks where it says "show paste
Tools>Options>option
buttons" and "show insert option buttons"

I just got a new computer at work and I've forgotten how to get the smart
tags turned completely off.  I went to Tools, AutoCorrect Options, and
unchecked everything to do with smart tags, but they keep appearing.
Anyone know what the trick is, they really annoy me.
