[mso] Re: Slow saves and pasting doesn't work

You may have an addin that is causing a delay with saving. Also, your
normal.dot may be loaded and/or becoming corrupt.

Two suggestions, since I see you've already defragged...check for addins.
You can test this by starting Word with /a switch. See this TechTrax article

If that doesn't seem to be the problem...you may want to create a new
normal.dot. Assuming you have a lot of styles, toolbars, macros and/or
autotext...it's important to rename to normal.old. Then use the organizer to
pass back what you need. If it's loaded...leave some of the old junk in the
old normal and only retrieve if you need it...or store that stuff in another
template for storage that you can grab if needed. See this TechTrax article

It turned out that it was copying, not pasting, that didn't work. I closed
and restarted Outlook and copying once again worked with Outlook and Word.
But file saves are still very slow. I defragged the hard drive earlier,
thinking that the save was having to spread out the file all over the drive,
but it turned out that the drive wasn't that badly fragmented.

Suddenly and inexplicably, I'm having two very annoying symptoms in Office:
Word file saves, which I do very, very frequently, are taking 5 seconds
apiece. Worse is that I can't paste text into Word or Outlook--nothing
happens. 

Any ideas?
