Hey Paul. No, I believe what you are getting is the same web page menu that
I was getting, so if you copy/paste that, it will probably be a lot more
than you want. What you should get is a menu that specifically says to save
the picture, or even to set it as your desktop image. If you get these photo
options, while you'd believe you have a photo selected, then you'd know you
do have just a photo selected. If you get those other options, then you have
the page or some other text on the page selected.
Hey, wait a minute...what exactly is it that you are trying to do. I ask
this because I just remembered that SnagIt has this really cool feature that
allows you to save off all the images on a web page. I've used it in cases
when people post those annoying, tiny thumbnail images that you have to
click on each one and then go back and then click and then go back (see all
the annoyances you don't have to deal with<wink>). So what I do in those
cases is set SnagIt to download two layers of the page. Two because the
first page has the pile of thumbnails, but the next layer or one link back
from that page, will be the larger image of each of the images.
So by setting the download to two layers, it sucks down all the thumbnails
that I can then delete and then I can just set the folder to larger
thumbnails and view all the images in a larger view or open it in a program
that allows me to cycle through even bigger images.
I know it sounds like a lot more work, but SnagIt works so easily that it's
very fast and I can then view maybe 50 photos in the time it would have
taken me to click back and forth through maybe 5 on the web site.
Anyway, feel free to email me offline and either pass me the page and I'll
let you know what you managed to copy...or tell me the page you're trying to
capture and I'll try it with SnagIt. If it works as I believe it should for
you, and if it is easy to do with keystrokes (something I haven't tried to
do yet), then it might be worth it to get SnagIt to use to easily copy off
the images you or your friend would need. The only problem is that you get
all the images on the page, so you might have to sort through to find what
you wanted.
And should you consider it, SnagIt is only $39.95. However, also know that
they will be coming out with a newer version in the not too distant future.
I'm on the beta team and the new version is very cool and worth the wait if
you can.
So sorry to say get it and then say wait. Don't mean to confuse you. Just
trying to make sure you have all the info to make the best decision.
But I'd be happy to try things out for you, Paul, and let you know what I
had to do and/or how well it worked out.
Oh, and one other thing that Greg found and passed along to me. He found a
tip on an accessibility page that said that if you select an image by
tabbing to it on a web page and then press the Shift + F10 keys while you
also right click on the mouse...and it doesn't matter where on the page the
mouse is located, that it would work to capture the image. But I wasn't able
to pull it off. So I'm not sure if I just messed it up, if it doesn't work
for me now because I am term served into my desktop from my laptop or if it
just doesn't work.
Well...the Chicago White Sox won game 3 of 7 tonight, about an hour ago in
the longest game in World Series history and I've checked my mail, so it's
time for this ol' lady to hit the hay. But if you need help, pass along a
direct email and I'll check it out later.
Give Shaque a hug for me.<wink>

Hi Dian,
Thank you once again, I will give this a try. I just did a little experiment
and when I brought up a picture and used my jaws right mouse click on it I
then found that the sub menu contained both copy and a select all options.
If I choose the copy option and then go into say word and paste what I
think I copied will this give me the result of having copied an image?. I
just don't have sighted help present at this moment so wondering if it
worked.
Thanks Dian for your thought probing help.
Oh and hey, no worries about the sight problem, we all have our
difficulties in life, right,*smile*.
Paul.

Hey Paul, Dian here. This is a bit tricky for me who is handicapped with
vision<wink>...but this is what I did...
* opened Internet Explorer
* hit Alt + D to move to the address input box
* typed images.google.com
* when that page opens, my cursor jumps to the search input box for images
* I typed in dog (hey, what else, right?) and hit enter
* I got pictures of dogs
* I was able to tab to the picture I wanted.
But at this point I'm stuck. I can't figure out how to activate a right
click without hitting the right mouse button. And the cursor has to be over
the picture to activate the correct menu. But you have a right click
activation key in JAWS that I wouldn't have under a normal keyboard in
Windows, right. So if you can activate the right click, you'd bring up the
mini menu.
* Once that is up, you can hit the S key for save and the save as dialog box
opens with a suggested name in the My Pictures folder. So hitting enter
saves it.
Hope this helps.

Hi All,
Can anyone on the list please advise me on how it might be possible for
someone to select images and pictures from the internet using keystrokes. I
would like this information for a blind friend.
Many thanks all,
Paul.

Subject: [mso] FW: Outlook 2003 question
I'm re-sending this in case whoever knows the answer didn't see the question
the first time. I have a client getting pretty antsy about this - I tried
to have him disable his modem but it's not showing up in the device manager,
so I'm not sure why it's asking for this info. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Elise
