I ended up uninstalling that desktop search thing ... my dang computer was
constantly working with that running ... I don't like anything that uses
that much CPU.

But, that's a good call, Kath ... that could definitely be causing the
problem!

My guess is that the slowness is at least partially caused by WDS =
(Windows
Desktop Search). Let it run for a day or two and see if it gets any =
better.
(This is especially true if you imported email from a previous version =
of
Outlook... The system is scanning the old emails to set up indexing.)
