I think it's a block naming problem: definitions exist workbook-wide. So
you can't have one name define two different blocks in a workbook, even
though they exist on two separate worksheets. If the entire blocks are
identical, you could just refer to the block in the original worksheet. Or
you could rename the blocks on the copied workbook block2 and block3.

<< Subject: [mso] Replicate Worksheets, Make Unique Block Names
<<
<<
<< Hello Group,
<<
<< How to copy a worksheet into other worksheets in the same
<< workbook while
<< obtaining unique block names?
<<
<< In sheet one, I have two blocks named block1 and block2.
<< Each block contains
<< a matrix of six cells (block1 = A1:C2 and block2 = D1:F2).
<< Some of the cells
<< contain constants which will not change.
<<
<< When I copy this initial sheet into sheet two, everything
<< appears to have
<< been replicated, except that the block numbers don't appear
<< in sheet two.
<< When I try to name the blocks in sheet two, Excel refuses to
<< allow me to name
<< them "block1" and "block2".
<<
<< I have identical formulas in both worksheets that use the
<< names "block1" and
<< "block2". I want these formulas to use the contents of the
<< matrices in their
<< own respective worksheets.
<<
<< IOW, I want to start with initial conditions in sheet one
<< then make a copy of
<< that into sheet two, and make changes in sheet two that
<< don't disturb anything
<< in sheet one. I might make additional copies of any of the
<< sheets into new
<< sheets, and subsequent changes I make in any of the sheets
<< shouldn't change
<< any of the other sheets.
<<
<< Is this a block naming problem or is it a preference I need
<< to set within
<< Excel (version 2002)?
<<
<< Thank you for the help.
