I use the readability thing from time to time to help me with the proofreading process. If the system shows a low score, I use that to re-read what it's pointing out and evaluate if the problem is really a problem or just a difference in style or tone. I don't rely on it but use it as another tool in helping me do my job better. /g -----Original Message----- From: Barb Anderson [mailto:benman@xxxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Thursday, September 25, 2003 9:55 AM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Readability stats responses My thanks go out to those who responded on the MS Word readability issue. Frankly it is too new to me to decide one way or the other. Right now I see it as a useful tool for counting words, sentences and paragraphs, etc. Proofreading is a 'must do' chore, regardless. But I must say that I was 'sort of' delighted to see that my supervisor's last draft of an official policy statement scored lower than a similar document I had drafted!
