[mso] [RE]Re: [RE]Can't Convert DOCX Files

I apologize. I have a signature that was being rejected by the system. That
is why you got the "no attachments in my message" I assumed you were have
problems with a single document, but I see this is not the case. My
suggestion was to save the document with ".doc" or ".rtf" as an extension
instead of saving it with ".docx" as an extension. I missed the fact that it
worked consistently on one PC and not the other. The PC that is unable to
open the file may need to have the file association setting tweaked. The
fastest way to do that is to:
1. Save the attachment to your desktop.
2. From the desktop, right click on your document.
3. Select [open with] | [Microsoft Office Word] from the drop down menu. If
you don't see "open with" as an option, try again, but hold the shift key
down simultaneously to right clicking.
4. If you don't see [Microsoft Office Word] as an option, select [Choose
Program...]Select [Microsoft Office Word]
If that doesn't work, let me know. There are a couple of things that could
also be the issue.

Hello (no name given)

I don't understand your reply.

The DOCX file arrived as an attachment in personal email. I saved it to disk

on two PCs. The MS file converter did convert and open the file in Word2003
on
my old PC but not on my new PC. (My previous message describes both
computers.)

I am asking for ideas that might explain why the MS File Compatibility Pack
is able to convert and open XLSX spreadsheets on both PCs but it can handle
DOCX Word documents on only the old PC.

If your reply was meant to tell me I can't attach files to messages on this
user group, it is off the mark because I am not attempting to attach
anything
to any of my emails addressed to this group.

If your reply was meant to say the conversion utility is unable to process
files attached to emails, that too is off the mark because the DOCX file is
saved to disk before I attempt to open it.

Can anyone explain why the MS File Compatibility Pack fails to convert and
open DOCX files on one PC?

Thank you.

Ray Shapp
