No, you can't do it like yahoo groups.  You need to read the message in the
archives, then highlight what you want to reply to, copy it, open a new
email and paste it in there. 

It's a minor annoyance with freelists, but the group agreed it was way less
annoying than all the spam and popups, AND unreliable service we had to deal
with at yahoo, so we left yahoo and we've been much happier at freelists.
