Thanks to John, David and Graham for the advice given all of which has been
taken on board, but regrettably did not solve the problem.
I was always aware that double clicking a cell holding a formula revealed the
formula details, I have learnt that holding the control key and Tilde key
changed the readout to show all formula. I was not aware of this and am
grateful for the info.
I spent a couple of hours last night reviewing what I had done that might
have caused the problem, and finally solved it, when I remembered changing the
mouse I had been using to an optical mouse, which was double clicking at a fast
speed, causing me to apparently occasionally double click without being aware
of it. I have now changed the speed to fairly slow, and the problem is solved.
Perhaps I should have not troubled you all, before I examined all
posibilities, for which I apologise, but the process of discussing it helped
and encouraged me to look more closely.
Once again many thanks for the interest.
Norman West
