Having read and tried the "Transparency" solutions, I agree that the colours
are not satisfactory. I believe that one has to 'go outside of Office' to
achieve what you want.
1) In Powerpoint, draw three circles, overlapping as you require. Set the
Fill to 'No Fill'.
2) Select all three and (from the File menu) Export as a BMP to an easy
location (I used the Desktop).
3) Open MS Paint and the file you exported
4) Using the Fill tool, colour each area as required
5) Save the file and close MS Paint.
6) Maximise PowerPoint (your 3 circles should still be selected) and press
the Delete key.
7) From the Insert menu, select Picture ... From File and choose the BMP you
have modified.
The circles will, of course, no longer be three objects but just one bitmap
file. If you need labels on them, you will have to overlay the circles with
text boxes.
There are other ways of achieving a similar result, perhaps, but I think
this is the simplest. I tried going through Word but that wasn't
satisfactory! In order to colour them correctly your image must consist not
of three vector objects but of (I think) seven, representing the various
segments as the circles overlap. PowerPoint doesn't have the capability of
doing an intersection on two or more vector objects, hence the need to turn
it into a bitmap (and stay within Microsoft, at least). I didn't try using
Visio as a tool because not everyone has Visio!
