Thank you for the reply.

I must be missing something because when I untic all the options in 
"autoformat as you type" tab.I don't get any auto-fitting. When I checkmark 
both "autofit title text to placeholder" and "autofit body text to 
placeholder", only body text auto-fits. Title text remains at default size 
forever. Autofitting doesn't work at all inside a text box I add to a slide. 
IOW, autofit works only in the "Click to add text" placeholder when I insert a 
new slide.Apparently there is a difference between a placeholder that comes 
with a new slide and a text box that I add to a slide.

Definitions from Help:

Placeholder: Boxes with dotted or hatch-marked borders that are part of most 
slide layouts. These boxes hold title and body text or objects such as charts, 
tables, and pictures.

Text box: A movable, resizable container for text or graphics. Use text boxes 
to position several blocks of text on a page or to give text a different 
orientation from other text in the document.

Why doesn't autofit work in the title placeholder?
