You are right.....naming a range makes calculations so much easier because
when you do the copy and paste, since the reference is relative, it causes
you to have to edit each expression in each cell to substitute the correct
reference.

I have been reading over your last two articles in Tech Trax about If
statements and VLOOKUP and have found them very useful. I look forward to
your next articles.

Yes..I used a named range...just highlight all the data you want included
in
the name, then click in the Name Box on the left end of your toolbar (it's
the box that shows the name of the cell you are currently in)...once you
click in that box, you will see the cell reference that was there shoots
over to the left and is highlighted...just type in your name you want to
use, then hit Enter...you MUST hit Enter or it won't take.

Now, your range is named.

I'm planning to write a naming ranges tutorial for the next issue of
TechTrax for Dian...not this one coming up, I've already done that one,
but
the next one...there are MANY features of Excel that are MUCH easier to
use
if you use named ranges and many people don't even know they exist.

For example, they work like bookmarks...once you've named a range, it will
now appear in the dropdown in the Name box...if you select it from there,
it
will move you immediately to the named range and highlight it for you
