[mso] Out-of-control style names

I have a problem I haven't been able to resolve or even find anywhere on =
the
Internet, and I'm hoping for wisdom here. Put succinctly, in longer
documents the styles modify themselves. =20
I have a style called "List Hang" which I use a good deal. I'll go to =
click
on that style, only to find that it is now called "List Hang Char," and =
then
later "List Hang Char Char Char," and then later "List Hang Char Char =
Char
Char Char." You get the idea. What's happening, and how can I stop it?
I do select all text with that style and then modify the style to "List
Hang" and that solves the problem until the Char-Chars begin attaching
themselves to the style name again.
