This happens to me with Outlook 2000 on both Windows 98 and Windows 2000,
and on 4 other different machines that I know of. It causes problems when
you are accessing the same email folders from different machines on a
network because you think you closed it and yet it is still running after
you've exited it. I've always just assumed it's a program quirk and have
resolved myself to do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and check it every time I want or need
to make sure it's really closed. If you ever do find the solution please
share it with me too.
Oh yeah, if you are using Windows 2000 with Outlook, don't just look for it
running in the CTRL-ALT-DEL>Task Manager>Applications list. Be sure to
check the CTRL-ALT-DEL>Task Manager>Processes tab too because I've found
that sometimes it's still listed in the Processes list even when it is not
in the Applications list.
