[mso] Re: Outlook screens trigger donging (very annoying)

I don't exactly understand what you're doing, but if you're getting =
error
beeps, it's because there's an open dialog box that you need to handle.

One source of this that I know of (that causes many annoying open =
dialogs to
be in the background, beeping) is if you use Norton Antivirus (by =
Symantec).
If you have the Office plug in...dialogs will be open BEHIND Outlook =
that
won't let you continue until you deal with them...but you don't always
realize they are open cos' they end up in the back a lot. So you may be
beeps when you try to proceed or you see a flashing bar on your taskbar
trying to get your attention.

If that sounds familiar, turn off the Norton Office Plug-in. It's =
annoying,
buggy, interferes with Office processes, obnoxious and not really =
needed.=20

Subject: [mso] Outlook screens trigger donging (very annoying)

Hello everyone,
Many of the screens in MS Office 2003 Outlook began donging at me =
yesterday
-- " Dong , Dong, Dong..." -- until I moved the focus away from them or
closed the window (or, of course, muted the speakers) . I am using Win =
XP
Pro, with all service packs and security updates installed. The last =
Office
update I installed was on 14 August, and that was for an Outlook =
junk-mail
filter.

I don't know if this is a clue, but the donging is exactly like when you
have a dialog box open and accidentally click on the background window
before closing it. In my case, shifting focus to Outlook triggers the =
sound,
and there is no foreground window open. This happens for the main e-mail
window and e-mails that I open; however, Contacts, Task Pad and Calendar
don't set off the sound until I open a form window, such as a contact =
form
or appointment form or task form.=20

Have any of you run into this and/or know what sets this off?

Best regards,
Daniel
