[mso] Re: Outlook constantly prompting for password

Thanks, Dian. I read this article earlier, and it doesn't appear to apply to
me. I have two e-mail addresses with the same servers and passwords, but
with different user names. Also, this doesn't explain why I don't have this
problem 95% of the time; this article leads me to believe that this would
always happen with some e-mail providers.

I do, however, have the problem of multiple copies of e-mails. Neither
account is configured to leave copies of mail pon the server. Some of those
multiple copies are caused by having multiple rules for the same things--I
do that when Outlook ignores rules, which it does frequently. I don't
understand why it ignores rules. Sometimes I run the rules and they work on
the same messages they didn't work on originally. The rules work most of the
time, so this is baffling. However, I went through and deleted many of the
duplicate rules. I have one rule for Word-ms, but I still get multiple
copies of those messages.

Overall, I have to say that I'm very disappointed with Outlook. I
occasionally use some of the other features, but I really don't like any of
them that well.

Joel

Check out this article:

Outlook 2002 prompts you for a password for an e-mail account that has a
saved password
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281791&Product=ol200
2

Although it says 2002, it may still apply.

Subject: [mso] Outlook constantly prompting for password

I have Outlook 2003. It is set to check for mail every 60 seconds on 2
e-mail addresses. Often, for no apparent reason, a window pops up asking me
to enter my user name and password. The remember the password check box is
always cleared. I select the check box and click OK, but it prompts me again
and again. Sometimes I'm in the middle of typing something, and I look up
and find that I'm typing in the password box. There is nothing wrong with my
settings or e-mail server--I use the Test account settings button and it
prompts me again, but everything else works normally. I am able to send and
receive mail with no problems.

I keep my computer and Office completely updated.

Why does Outllok do this to me so often? This is definiely a bug. I just
want the Remember password check box selected. There is no reason for it to
magically clear itself.
