[mso] Re: Outlook Rules Errors

Yes, this is by design. If the criteria you set up for a rule changes,
obviously the rule will no longer work. Say you rename a folder where you
were previously sending email. The rule would look for, say MSOffice and you
changed it to MSO...that would mean the RULE was now broken.

You need only open the list of rules and you'll see a ERROR designation
(forgot what it looks like...maybe a red exclamation point? But you, Joel,
should be able to recognize which ones right off (and maybe then tell us
what the icon looks like...since none of my rules currently have a problem).

Just review the rule you created and somewhere in there you'll notice that
something is not right, i.e., as Linda said, a deleted, renamed or moved
folder is the most common cause of this error.

I had this happen once, but I don't remember it saying "most"....I think my
error said "some"....anyway, if I remember correctly, I went into my Rules
and Alerts and the rules with errors were noted in there (can't remember how
they were noted, but I remember being able to find the ones that had a
problem - in my case they were sending mail to a folder I had deleted)

Outlook 2003's rules engine never worked well for me, but it did work to
some extent. Suddenly today, I got a message that said that most of my rules
had errors and must be modified or deleted. Has anyone heard of this
problem? Do I need to delete and re-create all my rules?

Joel
