Go to Tools, Options, Preferences Tab; Email Options, Advanced Email Options
...
In the Save box, you'll see a check mark against "In Folders other than
Inboz, save reply with original message"
This explains why, if you reply to or forward a mail from the Inbox, your
copy goes into Sent; if the folder is other than Inbox, it gets stored in
that folder.
