[mso] Re: Outlook Formatting Problems

Yes, I have read the article by Greg many times over. I still remain somewhat
skeptical (make that just a teeny bit skeptical) but I guess one certainly
can't argue with success. Greg's article is now a little bit dated in that it
mentions Outlook versions 10 and 11 but Office 2007 uses Outlook version 12.
No problem here because the Microsoft Knowledgebase article which discusses
"How Outlook applies encoding to plain text e-mail messages"
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278134/en-us) has been updated to indicate
the registry hack also applies to Outlook 2007.

But Freelist's inability to handle plain text from Outlook still seems a step
out of the ordinary. In fact, Greg's article states that Outlook XP's default
is to use Base64 encoding. However, Outlook 2007 has changed this and uses no
encoding by default as stated in the above referenced knowledgebase article.
So doing the suggested registry hack on Outlook 2007 changes nothing assuming
the user has all the default settings. Unless Microsoft is lying to us
(what???). And yet Freelist can't handle no encoding on plain text messages.
Just one of life's mysteries.

Brian

Did you read the article? Greg Chapman explains it much better than I can. I
can't really tell you any more. I guess you could contact Freelists directly
and ask them if you need to know more than Greg says in the article under
"Description".

Good luck.

Thanks Linda....I'm old and retired but not quite blind just yet. :-)

Maybe I didn't make my question quite clear. I have read of the supposed =
problem and the registry hack offered as a resolution but the question =
remains "Why am I seeing this problem only from this list server? I =
belong to several others and they seem to get along just fine with =
Outlook.
