[mso] Outlook 2003 Personal Folders / Contact List problem

Hi all,

I'm having a problem for which I may not be able to provide a detailed
history which you might like to have to help solve the problem. Let me
explain...

A few weeks ago I had a problem with Outlook 2002...things (exactly what
things I can't recall now) weren't working probably and I was getting error
messages which made me think the .pst file had become too large (was nearly
2 gig if I recall). Along with deleting/archiving a bunch of stuff to
reduce the file size, I took the opportunity to upgrade to Outlook 2003.
Since doing so I've had a couple of things I can't resolve. First, Outlook
displays 2 separate Personal Folders...one contains all of my proper folders
and works fine. The 2nd Personal Folders won't open...I get an error
message telling me it can't find "backup.pst". Somewhere in my messing
around trying to solve my original problems before I realized the .pst was
simply too large I think I tried importing the backup.pst. I'm honestly not
sure of what all the things I did were when trying to fix things. But at
this point I would like to know how to get rid of that 2nd Personal Folders
folder. The other problem (which probably came about due to more of my
messing things up while trying to solve my problems) arises when I'm trying
to address an email using my Contact List., I open a new mail message and
click on "To..." which used to open my Contact List. Now, however, I get a
message saying "The address list could not be displayed. The Contact folder
associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been
moved or deleted, or you do not have permission. For information on how to
remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office
Outlook Help." The only option then is to click OK on the message. Once
you do that, the "Select Names" dialog box displays, but it's empty. But if
I display the drop-down list in the "Show names from the" field, it has
"Contacts" listed 4 times. Turns out the first 3 in the list are all blank,
and 4th one down is the one that has all of my contacts listed. Once I
select the 4th contact list, I'm able to select the contact I want and it
works fine to address my email. How do I remove the "extra" contact lists?
When I click on the "Contacts" icon at the bottom of the pane where the
Personal Folders and all are displayed, there is only 1 listing under "My
Contacts".

I'm sure there is more I should be able to tell you which might help someone
help me, but I don't know what that might be or if I would remember all I
did which might have created these problems in the first place. Any help
you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to all!

Diane
