[mso] Re: Outlook 2002 Questions

Tool, Rules Wizard will get you to the place where you can set up your
rules. =20

For Junk email, it uses filters, so sometimes good mail gets into the =
junk
email folder. Which is why I have my junk email sent to a specific =
folder
rather than being deleted.

To see the filters Outlook uses to filter the mail, click on the =
Organize
Icon.=20
Click on junk email. =20
Click on "click here" in the last sentence.=20
Click on You can improve filters by downloading updates from the Outlook =
Web
Site.
From the Outlook Website, scroll down. In the second to last paragraph =
it
tells you where to look for the text file on you PC. You can go to that
file, or in the 2nd sentence of the paragraph, it says, ... Microsoft =
Junk
E-Mail Filter Readme. Click on that phrase and it will open the readme =
on
the web. You can see the filters it is using and usually figure out why
specific mail was filtered.

To avoid this, put those folks on the Exception List. =20

From the MS Knowledge Base article KB 286049:

How to Make an Exception to Your Filtered Content List
On the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard.
In the Apply rules in the following order box, click Exception List.
In the Rule Description box, click the hyperlink Exception List.
Click Add.
Enter the e-mail address or domain for which you want to make an =
exception.
E-mail messages from the e-mail address or domain that you entered will
remain in your Inbox, even if the content contains phrases found in the
internal list of filtering terms.=20

Here's the link to the KB Article.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [mso] Outlook 2002 Questions

Hello everyone,=20
=20
I am new to this forum (signed up yesterday, after looking for help with
Outlook).
=20
I recently bought a new Pc, with Windows XP Professional, and decided to
switch to Outlook. I used Express, and was very comfortable with it, but =
I
want to use the additional features you can get with the Outlook, and =
need
help setting it up.
=20
I created my folders, but can't figure out how to create "rules" so that
emails sent to certain email addresses (groups I belong to) will go into =
the
appropriate folder.=20
=20
Is there an easy way to do this (direct email to designated folders)?=20
=20
Also, tha same principle goes when I want to send junk email to the
"Deleted" file, right?
=20
I went into Tools --> Organize --> Junk E-mail and turned on the junk =
and
adult filters, but they get a lot of my good emails branded as such. =
Some of
the emails coming from one person are OK, and some of the emails from =
that
same person are tagged as junk: is thre an explanation?
=20
One last thing (Promise!): when I transferred the emails from Express, =
some
emails came in up to 4 times, so now I have about 5000 emails: is there =
an
easy way for me to delete the duplicates (triplicates, etc.) without =
having
to read each email individually?
=20
I appreciate any kind of help you can give me.
=20
Thank you.
