Thanks Linda and Dian - I have done all the things you suggest in tools
options etc etc - still happening. My version is Outlook 2002 Office
XP Pro with FrontPage. Checking for patches will have to wait till
Monday as I am out of the office for the next 2 days taking my daughter
to uni for freshers week so will miss all the cheery banter! If only I
could remember how to set "out of office" when not using an exchange
server ... *scratches head and ambles off home*.

Apols for not deleting previous message - thought I had done so.

Have a nice weekend everybody - and good luck with the insurance stuff
Linda.

It made it thru, Ann....but I didn't reply cuz I'm all wrapped up in
fighting insurance companies right now...grrrrr

But, what version of Outlook are you using? If you've turned that
option off in Tools>Options and it's still popping up, I'm not sure
why....but I
*think* I remember hearing of this problem before with Outlook 2000 and
I
*think* it was resolved with one of the service patches, or maybe it
wasn't resolved until Outlook 2002 and some of it's patches?....do you
have all the latest patches for your version? You might want to check
the Office Update page and be sure of that...otherwise, I have no idea
why it's happening.

I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!!!!

(and please, if you reply to an existing post and change the subject
line, could you also delete the history of that thread? No need to
include that when you aren't even talking about that subject anymore.
Thanks)

Posted this a few days ago but didn't get any replies - hope it made it
through the system!

Is there any way to switch off the popup box that annoyingly tells me
"New mail has arrived - would you like to read it now?" It keeps getting
in the way when I am working on some complex proprietary software and I
can't seem to get it to stop, even though all the tick boxes in Tools>
Options> Preferences> Email options have been disabled!

Thanks in hope!

Anne
