Googling seems to indicate that that you are either downloading the wrong version of the Java VM (note Bill that it's NOT Java *script* - that's something completely different!), or that you actually already HAVE a Java VM installed and you are installing another, different version over the top. 1. You do not need to format and reinstall XP (that is overkill in most situations). 2. If your version of XP has the original SP1 built into it, you probably have Java already. Have you tried using the link Linda gave you BEFORE installing the other Java VM? 3. If you do need to download and install Java, then be really sure that you have the right version, and have uninstalled any existing version first. Despite what your AV says, you almost certainly do not have a virus.
