You may have network connections that are not currently connected...so it
takes the net time to decipher that those are not currently enabled. So
check all your connections to your system and disable any that aren't
needed. This is a common problem on laptops when office connections are left
enabled while on the road. The user's system takes forever to realize it is
not currently connected to the network.

every time I go into word or excel and try and open a document and
browse to the network to find it.....the application hangs on me and it
takes forever to open the network browse window...
