Are you saying that when you try to start Excel, you get the message about
the service pack? But you can start other Office programs?
I have another idea. If you have System Restore on, you should run it. That
might restore your Office programs to their original functionality. Check
out Windows XP Help and Support for instructions.
I recommended that you ask Microsoft for replacement media. If you can start
Word, and you go to Help > About, you will find your Product ID. Hopefully
that will be enough. Your other option is, as I said earlier, to ask around
for any of your friends or relatives if they have discs from the identical
version of Office XP. If Office came with your computer, you have an OEM
(Original Equipment Manufacturer) version. If it was purchased at a retail
store, you have a retail version, unless you are a student or a teacher, in
which you could have purchased an educational version. Then you have to
narrow it down to Professional Edition, Standard Edition, or Small Business
Edition. You might also need disks for extras such as Publisher and Business
Contact Manager.
I didn't ask you where the original discs were, and I wasn't sarcastic. I'm
really trying to help.
Joel
