Sorry about that!
What I do is keep a set of text files that are sent usually daily from a guy
who writes them.
Now each day I add what he writes to the file, So each day file is about a
page give or take a line or so.
Now I put that in the last file, index it, until I get it to about a 100
pages, then save it off as a file with a name like 1000-1099 Now I can get
that file and index it anytime I would want but this think has gotten so big
its bad. Its about 1496 pages I think so I want to make a master doc up I
guess and add to the last file daily, and index it as I go, Now I would
like to print it from the master document with a index? I sometimes need to
update the older files with a correction also. I can do this but the index
always is messed up.
I built a master document a long time ago from a QUE Book What it says
after I dug it out this week was , From empty document to just start by
adding a Page break then link to the file you want? Then add another page
break and add the next file. Which is what I did about 5 years ago, and its
always worked but the index is messed up Some how! I would like to maybe
redo it and start out right I guess. Cause there ANI"T no RD fields in it
<grin>
I have the files! I guess what I need to do is restart from scratch?? Or
so it would seem. I think it was Word 97 but the book is a Office 200
book?? And I have Office 2000 pro software or XP if I want But not loaded
it in.! and maybe won't!
Reading below Probably I have separated the files more than once over the
years!
Anyway this make more sense?
Don't mind a old man I am just slow thinking!
Gene
OK, sorry, Gene. But I can't make much sense of your post below.
ARE YOU USING RD FIELDS?
If you are separating the files, you need RD fields to put it together.
DID YOU SEPARATE THE FILES?
