Ok...I guess you can't rename that msvcrt40.dll cuz windows is using it.
What version of Windows are you using? If it's 98, go to the Start
button and click on Run...then type SFC in the run box...this will take
you to the system file checker....choose to replace one file (don't let
it check for all files...just choose one)....choose msvcrt40.dll and
tell it to replace it from the Office CD

I sure wish someone else would jump in here....cuz I'm flat out of ideas
if this doesn't work.

Good luck

It's me again...(sorry)

I found the MSVCRT40.DLL file in my Windows System and
I tried to rename it to .old, but it wouldn't let me.
It said the file was in use, (whatever that means!)
Then I was going to try and copy the file from the CD,
but I don't know how.

One more bizarre thing, I am unable to get the Office
SR updates for some reason. I have tried several
times and always get an error window saying that The
download was unsuccessful.

I am slowly losing my mind! Well, what's left of it!

Again, I really appreciate your help with this!
