Sorry for the OT reply.
It depends what versions she has...
If the illegal is Pro and the legal is Home Retail she will have a problem.
(Most illegal copies I have seen are Pro.)
If they are both the same and she bought a legal retail (boxed) copy, she
should be able to do a repair - (Boot from the CD and choose R at the second
opportunity, not the first.)
HTH,
Mark

Subject: [mso] illegal XP
Hi Everone,
I'm somewhat new in this group. I have a problem to resolve for my niece.
She has an illegal
copy of Windows XP on her computer. She bought a legal copy and wants me to
load it for her so
that she doesn't loose the files and settings she has in her computer. How
can I do this? Can
anyone help me with this?
TIA
Rixe
