I went wireless in November, changed my email to Live, and figured that with
my Outlook Express, I could access my Live email account. When it did not
work, I contacted MS and they told me that I had to use MS Office with a
free MS program called Connector. So I bought MS Office 2007 Standard and
installed the software and then downloaded and installed Connector.
I set up my accounts and started outlook. I believe, (although I am not
absolutely sure) that everything worked. However, shortly after I ran the
program, I started to get sync errors. I imported all my old emails and the
address book from Outlook Express. And I believe that is when my Sync
problems started. I think that the system was trying sync before it
completed the import of my old messages and address book.
Now, every time Outlook communicates with my Live email account I get a sync
error for every change I have made.
I can send and receive emails. When I send a message it goes from the
?Outbox? folder to the ?Sent Item? folder. This is what it should do, but
later when Outlook tries to Sync with my Live email account, I get a sync
error and the message is moved from the ?sent item ? folder to the ?Sync
Issue sub-folder ?Local Failures?. During the sync process, no changes are
made to any folders in my Live email account.
I contacted MS Connector tech support and they worked with me for a week or
so and then they said I should contact MS Office tech support. I did and
worked with them for a month and I got absolutely nowhere. I finally told
MS, I would have to try and find a fix for the problem myself. There was
also a timing problem as the MS tech support person was in China, Taiwan or
somewhere in that time zone. Also the person?s English was not too good and
sometimes I had to guess what the person was trying to say.
Following tech support?s directions I ?removed and reinstalled? Office three
or four times without any change to my sync errors. On my own, I created a
different Live email account and got the same sync errors.
The last time I removed and reinstalled Office, MS tech support told me that
we would completely remove Office. I don?t think everything was removed as
during the initial startup, my emails and address book appeared and it had
the same mail account as before.
I need help! First, I would like to fix my sync problem as it would be nice
to make it work like it is supposed to. But if I can?t fix it, I would like
to disable the sync function and just keep my local email information in my
computer and just use the Live email account like an ISP.
I would love to hear from anyone that has some idea of what I should do to
make this system work like it is supposed to or how to turn off the sync
function.
Thanks,
John of MS
