I had a similar problem and I resolved it by not installing SP3. I never did track down what in the service pack was causing the issue. I only had the problem on 1 Toshiba notebook of 4 identical systems, the other 3 were just fine. It Will build another as it starts!! With Default! Its had the installation Repair run several times but its also hung when it runs so maybe it runs maybe not it never asks for the disc. No Plug-Ins are running No macros are running, Again it's a new install with Sp3 update. Its hard to do much as it freezes?? Quits and then you can't do much so you have to work around a bit!! More Comments I'll try most anything!! Archive and delete the active Normal.DOT. It might possibly be corrupt. (I don't know if you can get away without one at all. If not, there's probably an old copy lurking somewhere.) Also, are you running any plug-in's? If so, they might be worth finding and deleting. Otherwise, sounds like you need to do an installation repair.
