[mso] Re: Numbers & Leading Zeros in Excel

the data is in 3 columns. I want it concatenated to 1 date column with the
format 00000000. but I'm not getting it. if there is a leading zero in any
of the columns, the result does not show them. 

actual values in 3 columns:  1     3     87  which is January 3, 1987 which
displays in the three columns as 01  03    1987.  what I want is one column
displayed as 01031987.

the first column with the month is formatted 00, the 2nd column with the day
is formatted 00, the third column was concatenated with 19&column 3 to get a
result of 1987.

I concatenated the desired column column1&column2&column3 with a format of
00000000 but I'm not getting the desired result of 01031987.  the #%&@
leading zeros are dropping off.

Well...you've lost me Glenda....first you say three columns, then you say
the desired result is 03021987 which looks like one column to me

Do you want that in one column or do you want three columns with 03  02
1987?

If you want it in one column, just format the column as custom: 00000000

Or do you have the data already in three columns and you are trying to
concatenate it?

Those %&*$# leading zeros are killing me.  I've formatted the cells with a
custom, as text, as number...HELPPP!
