Hi Linda,

For some reason my mail reached you and probably others but not me and so I
had resent it - apologies about that.

Yes, revert back to questions regarding the topics rather than a debate on
what is best, it is obvious that I did not clearly express my point in that
mail so there is little point going back to that. The initial post from
Peter was about differences between database and spreadsheet, Access and
Excel and responses on that WERE helpful what is not helpful in my opinion
are long term users who are not going to change, harping on about what is
best!

There will be members who do misinterpret what is said perhaps I did that
and some others also have as they are referring to IE and photoshop that was
not mentioned AT ALL in your vote mail!

As I have already said I will now restrict my involvement to asking
questions in the hope that I can make them clearly understood.

Best regards

Ian

<< There is no way that Linda can make an assumption that I would vote no on
the matter>>

First of all, I said I assumed that so you COULD let me know if that's what
you meant. Sorry Ian...you have me totally confused. You say there's no
point to these kinds of discussions and you sent a post to the group saying
"Without wishing to sound too rude I suggest that we all revert back to
answering the questions the list works better that way.", yet you now say
you vote YES to allowing this type of discussion

Also, in regards to your statement that there's no point to this becuz we
will all believe what we want to believe and this discussion will not change
our minds....I gotta say you are wrong....read some of the replies here from
people who had NOT made a decision about whether to use Access or Excel for
certain tasks...they are saying the discussion HELPED them, so I still don't
understand why you see it as "pointless"

Feeling like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't...you suggested we end
the thread and get back to questions...so I tried to do that (and ticked off
some other members I suppose)....now you are saying you never suggested the
thread should end.

Anyway...I'm going to let the vote stand and let the numbers
decide....that's about all I can do, cuz it's obvious I can't please
everybody.

I'm heading out the door now...this is final exams week at the college where
I teach, so alas, life goes on for me.

Dear all,

I agree with your mail regarding the helpfulness and benefits of the =
list.
However I just want to say that nowhere in my mail did I mention that =
the
thread should vanish.
