Ray,

Sounds like an interesting prospect to me.

Yes, James, there is, and we address the issue directly in the
background piece which is part of the report. Fundamentally, Access has
a more divided user base than the other Office applications; one type of
Access user uses it as a database to store and access information,
whilst another type uses it to create applications. The former really
has no need to code, nor even to create maketable queries or whatever.

It would be an interesting sequel to the survey potentially to look at
doing something similar for the different types of Excel user. How do
you feel about collaborating, James?

Ray

Ray,

I am curious, is there a particular reason you excluded Access from your
survey?

Some of you will recall that a few weeks ago I asked for help in
completing a survey into the use of Microsoft Office. I am delighted to
say we had a magnificent response which meant that altogether (including
respondents from all sources) we had over 170 participants complete the
questionnaires. This has helped to ensure the relevance and accuracy of
the survey's findings.

We have now completed the analysis which has been posted to our website
(http://www.grbps.com <http://www.grbps.com/> and follow the links for
the survey). You can also request a version in Adobe Acrobat format from
the website if you would like it in a printer-friendly format. This is
available free of charge and all we ask is that, if you quote from or
publish any of the analysis or conclusions, you give proper attribution
to the source.

We believe the report and analysis will be of use to anyone who uses
office applications but in particular the following groups: -

1. PC trainers and educators will find insights into how and where the
training budget is best directed for Office users.

2. IT support workers and systems administrators will learn which Office
features need and need not be included in standard installs, based on
actual likely usage.

3. Freelance IT trainers will gain useful information to help them focus
their marketing activity to where it can have most effect (and they are
welcome to use the results as part of that marketing strategy).

4. Office application users will be able to identify where their own
skills and knowledge could be developed for maximum productivity payoff.

Many thanks once again to all those who took the time and trouble to
take part.
