For the most part, yes. Granted, if you applied features that are not
available in previous version, they may be substituted or missing. But that
is only logical, i.e., if you used balloon comments in 2003, they show up as
normal content comments in 2000, since that feature was not available then.
But the base file format is the same.
Which will not be the case with the next version of Office. Then you'll need
to deal with a conversion...but not yet.
